PISTONS

In an HVAC system, a piston refers to a fixed orifice metering device that controls the flow of refrigerant. It's essentially a small, fixed-size opening through which the refrigerant passes, regulating the amount that enters the evaporator coil. Piston metering devices are a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) expansion valves.
